Everton are willing to keep Alli in their squad. What good would that do Tottenham?
Since joining Everton as a free agent two years ago, Dele Alli has played only 13 games for the Toffees due to injuries, with the midfielder not yet on the pitch this season. But that won't stop club bosses from extending their co-operation with the player.
According to The Athletic, Everton are ready to sign a new contract with the player, as the current agreement expires in the summer of 2022. But in this story there is a third party in the form of Tottenham, which can get benefits from Alli's new contract.
So, it is known that if the midfielder plays 20 matches for Everton, the club will be obliged to pay "Spurs" 10 million pounds, as well as the "Toffees" will pay a certain amount for the extension of the contract with the player.
However, it is likely that Dele will have to take a significant pay cut to remain in the Toffees' squad. Currently, his weekly wage is around £100,000.
