England will play in the quarterfinals of a major tournament for the fourth consecutive time

The England national team defeated Slovakia in the Round of 16 of Euro 2024 with a score of 2-1. The teams played 120 minutes as the score was tied after 90 minutes.

Despite significant criticism from fans and experts, England’s coach Gareth Southgate has a strong response to his detractors. Under his leadership, the England team has reached the quarterfinals in four consecutive major tournaments.

Southgate has been managing the team since 2016. During his tenure, England reached the final of Euro 2020 and secured fourth place at the 2018 World Cup. In the 2022 World Cup, the English team was eliminated in the quarterfinals. At Euro 2024, they will play in the quarterfinals against Switzerland. The match will take place on July 6 in Düsseldorf.

Notably, the game against Switzerland will mark Southgate's 100th match as the head coach of the England national team, making him the third longest-serving manager in the team's history.
