Durban City are through to the Nedbank Cup final after beating giant killers Casric Stars in KZN in what is turning out to be their historical season

Durban City's impressive season continues unabated as the Kwa-Zulu Natal side beat Casric Stars 1-0 to reach the Nedbank Cup final.

It was an own goal from Casric Stars’ Sphamandla Mlilo, at Chatsworth Stadium, in the first half which separated the two sides and ultimately end Stars’ fairy-tale run in the Ke Yona tournament.

Casric Stars were looking making history and causing further upset in this Ke Yona competition as they beat AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates in previous rounds of the Nedbank Cup.

Stars are now going back to the drawing board in order to stick to their main goal season which is to gain promotion to the Betway Premiership.

Actually, Bucs Mthombeni’s Stars may see the Nedbank Cup as a distraction of sort as they now had to choose what to focus on between their promotional ambitions or winning the trophy.

But for Durban City they are cruising as their maiden season in the PSL is proving a historical one.

As they gained promotion from the start of the campaign the Kwa-Zulu Natal side has been impressive.

That they are in the top eight bracket in the PSL standings and also now in the cup final is something they are proud of.
