Bucs Mthombeni laments their own goal as he says Durban City had no real opportunity to hurt them except from profiting on their costly error.

Durban City won 1-0 against Mthombeni’s Casric Stars via a Sphamandla Mlilo own goal in the first half Nedbank Cup semi-final clash at Chatsworth Stadium.

"They never had an opportunity where they looked like hurting us, it's the matter of the own goal that won them the game. It's normal and it happens in football so I won't be hard on the players, because if you look, we played five away games and only conceded two goals on our way to the semifinal," said the coach and co-owner after the game where City booked their place in the final of the Ke Yona competition.

After this defeat, Mthombeni said his side are now firmly focused on ensuring they return to the Motsepe Foundation Championship to fight for promotion to the elite league.

"Between us and Milford there are only two points, and I think we are going to have a better focus now that we are out of the Nedbank Cup,” he said.

"We will try to collect as many points as possible in our last eight games to try and secure automatic promotion."
