Club América Eyes Summer Reinforcements Ahead of Potential Club World Cup Bid

Club América is already outlining its reinforcement strategy ahead of a potential qualification for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. According to Mediotiempo, the Mexican giants are just one win away from securing their spot in the global tournament, with a decisive playoff set for May 31 against LAFC.
Should they qualify, América will be allowed to register up to six additional players from non-qualified clubs. Journalist Rubén Rodríguez reported that the club, under the direction of Santiago Baños, is targeting two key positions: a right-sided midfielder and a central striker. These reinforcements could come from within Liga MX or abroad.
More than short-term fixes, América wants the new signings to be part of the squad for the next domestic season. The plan is to use the Club World Cup as an early competitive integration period, assuming there are adjustments in the current foreign player quota.
Time is of the essence. The Liga MX Apertura is scheduled to start just one week after the international tournament wraps up, and América intends to have a full-strength roster ready. The club’s transfer approach reflects both immediate needs and a long-term vision to remain competitive on all fronts.
