The financial fair play rules are forcing Chelsea to sell players. The Blues plan to sell two of their academy graduates - Reece James and Conor Gallagher, The Telegraph reports.

The club's high expenses on players, coaches, and other staff put it at risk of violating financial profitability and sustainable development rules in the Premier League. If the transfers of James and Gallagher are completed by June 30, Chelsea will be able to record a profit from their sales in the financial reports for the 2023/24 season. The club plans to earn over £100 million from the sale of these players to avoid rule violations.

James has played 156 matches for the first team, scoring 11 goals and providing 21 assists, but he has missed most of this season due to injury. Gallagher has played 84 matches, scoring 7 goals and providing 8 assists.
