Carlos Bianchi Honored in France for His Legacy Bridging Two Nations

Carlos Bianchi received a special tribute from the French Senate this week, as part of its 150th-anniversary celebrations. The Argentine legend was recognized as a key figure in strengthening the cultural and sporting ties between France and Argentina. According to TyC Sports, Bianchi was awarded a commemorative medal, representing Latin America’s contributions to French society through sport.
Now 76 and residing in France for decades, Bianchi played for Reims, Strasbourg, and PSG, and later coached at clubs like Nice and Paris FC. While his legendary coaching career with Boca Juniors made headlines in South America, his earlier impact in French football remains deeply respected—particularly as a prolific scorer at PSG.
This Saturday, Bianchi will play a ceremonial role in the French Cup final between PSG and Reims, two clubs that defined his European journey. “I’ll bring the Cup to the edge of the pitch before kickoff. I’m proud and honored,” he told Sport 365. His presence will add a powerful emotional touch to a match rooted in history and tribute.
