The highest-ranked countries in Africa could be allowed to enter three or even four clubs.
This proposal has reportedly been under consideration for some time within the Confederation of African Football. According to sources, discussions are ongoing regarding a reform of the format of the Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
The proposal currently under review aims to increase participation from the continent’s 12 highest-ranked associations. Thus, instead of two representatives, these countries could enter three or four clubs each season.
Egypt, Ivory Coast, Algeria, DR Congo, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Angola, Libya, Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzania are the countries expected to benefit from this reform.
