The two teams will have to settle the tie in the second leg, scheduled for Sunday 25 October at the Hammadi-Agrebi Olympic Stadium in Rades.

TP Mazembe and Club Africain played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday in Lubumbashi in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League. In front of their home crowd, the Congolese side opened the scoring in the 38th minute through Kazema Baso.

But the home side’s joy was short-lived. Just a minute later, Burkinabe midfielder Alain Kanté levelled the score for Club Africain (1–1). In the second half, both sides continued to press for the winning goal.

TP Mazembe even thought they had snatched victory in the closing stages when Ndongala found the net in the 89th minute. However, the goal was disallowed for a handball by Fofana in the build-up.

Despite late attempts from both sides, the score remained unchanged until the final whistle. With this result, the suspense remains intact ahead of the second leg in Tunisia.

TP Mazembe will have to go to Tunisia to secure their place in the next round, facing a Club Africain side that will have the home advantage.
