Buffalo Pro Soccer Scraps Elk Street Stadium Plan, Delays Launch to 2027

Buffalo Pro Soccer has officially abandoned its plan to build a 7,600-seat stadium at Elk and Lee Streets due to safety and compatibility concerns raised by neighboring sulfuric acid producer PVS Chemical Solutions. As reported by The Buffalo News, the club has terminated its lease for the site and will revisit other previously vetted locations—including the Cobblestone District and a confidential waterfront option.
The change pushes Buffalo’s professional debut to the 2027 season. The stadium will be privately funded, with an investor group already in place. Original Cobblestone plans carried a $40 million estimate, with the team seeking $20 million in public support.
“Our vision remains unchanged—we’re building something that reflects the spirit of Buffalo,” said club president Peter Marlette Jr. Investor Jon M. Williams echoed the sentiment, pledging continued support for the project. While the new site is determined, Buffalo Pro Soccer’s youth academy will continue playing at Elk and Lee through year’s end.
The club will host a community town hall on July 17 in Larkinville to update fans and stakeholders on the next phase of its stadium journey.
