Botafogo Secure Gregore With New Deal Through 2028

Botafogo have locked down the future of one of their most influential players. According to O Antagonista, midfielder Gregore has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of 2028, in a deal that includes strategic clauses to protect the club’s interests.
Gregore, who has made 62 appearances for Botafogo, has become a cornerstone of the team’s recent successes, playing a pivotal role in their Copa Libertadores and Brasileirão triumphs. His leadership both on and off the pitch has been praised, and his game-reading skills and physical endurance have made him indispensable in the club’s tactical setup.
The new contract comes with a significant pay rise and a foreign release clause set at $7 million (around R$40.6 million). Additionally, Botafogo will be obligated to accept offers of $8 million (R$46.8 million) in mid-2025 or $6 million (R$35.1 million) at the end of the season, should they arrive.
These terms underline the club’s dual objective: to retain a key figure and to ensure a solid financial return in case of an international transfer. Gregore’s extension sends a strong message of continuity and ambition from Botafogo, aiming to maintain squad stability in a crucial area of the field.
The move also reflects the club’s broader strategy to invest in core players and build a cohesive unit capable of sustaining success. Gregore's presence is expected to not only bolster on-field performance but also attract other top talents looking to join a serious project.
With this renewal, Botafogo affirm their belief in Gregore’s leadership and importance to the club’s long-term aspirations, positioning themselves among Brazil’s top contenders.
