Bologna Targets Argentina's Top Prospects, Meets With Milito in Talent Hunt

Bologna continues to tap into Argentina’s footballing pipeline in search of its next breakout stars. According to TyC Sports, the club’s Sporting Director Marco Di Vaio recently traveled to Buenos Aires to scout young players showing promise in both the local league and Copa Libertadores. The trip comes on the heels of Santiago Castro and Benjamín Domínguez's impressive performances in Serie A, helping the Rossoblù contend for Champions League qualification.
During his visit, Di Vaio met with Racing legend Diego Milito at the Cilindro de Avellaneda, signaling the club’s strong interest in talents from the "Academia." Four Racing players are reportedly on Bologna’s radar: Juan Nardoni, Marco Di Césare, Agustín Almendra, and Santiago Quiros. All have made notable strides in the Apertura 2025.
The Italian executive also attended several matches across the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Defensively, Román Vega of Argentinos Juniors caught his attention with a standout performance and his first professional goal in a 4–0 victory over Defensa y Justicia.
In attack, Bologna is monitoring Boca’s Brian Aguirre and Vélez forward Thiago Fernández. The latter is currently sidelined with a serious knee injury and has yet to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the year.
Bologna’s strategy to recruit from South America continues to pay dividends, and the club appears eager to stay ahead of the curve by identifying emerging talents before they become hot properties on the European market.
