Boca Juniors Set to Tweak Lineup vs. Belgrano as Gago Eyes Tactical Shift

Boca Juniors are preparing for a pivotal clash this Saturday against Belgrano in Córdoba, as they aim to lock in a playoff spot in the Argentine Torneo Apertura. Following a narrow 1-0 win over Barracas Central, Boca sit atop the annual standings with 28 points and look to maintain momentum ahead of the looming Superclásico against River Plate. According to Infobae, head coach Fernando Gago is weighing significant adjustments to his lineup, including dropping one of his starting strikers and rethinking his tactical setup.
One of the key decisions revolves around the potential end of the Cavani-Giménez strike partnership. Edinson Cavani is expected to start, but Milton Giménez could make way for Kevin Zenón, offering more balance and ball control in midfield. Additionally, midfielder Camilo Rey Domenech returns to the squad after recovering from a serious chest injury and muscle tear, while defender Cristian Lema has also been cleared to play following months of rehab. Both players may be eased back with substitute roles.
Thus, the probable lineup would be: Agustín Marchesín; Lucas Blondel, Rodrigo Battaglia, Marcos Rojo, Lautaro Blanco; Tomás Belmonte, Milton Delgado, Exequiel Zeballos or Kevin Zenón; Carlos Palacios; Miguel Merentiel or Kevin Zenón and Edinson Cavani. The starting team will be decided after Friday's practice in Ezeiza, before traveling to Córdoba.
