The Benin national team continues its winless streak at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Details: Benin suffered a 0-1 defeat to DR Congo in the opening round of the current tournament, extending their unfortunate run to 15 matches without a single win.
Throughout their history at the Africa Cup of Nations, Benin have drawn five times and lost ten, failing to register a single victory. With this result, they have matched Mozambique, who have also played 15 matches in the tournament without a win—a record for futility in the competition, according to Opta.
In the next round, Benin will face Botswana, where they could surpass Mozambique’s infamous record. The match is scheduled for Saturday, December 27 at 13:30 Central European Time.
Reminder: DR Congo scored a second goal against Benin, but VAR disallowed it. Here's why.
