Barcelona is currently showing excellent results, leading the standings with a nine-point advantage over the second-place team. Club president Joan Laporta may consider holding elections earlier due to these strong results.
Details: According to Sport.es, the next elections at Barcelona are scheduled for 2026, five years after Laporta assumed the presidency. However, he is now considering moving the elections up to the summer of 2025, wanting to capitalize on Barcelona's great performances under Hansi Flick.
Organizing the entire electoral process from start to finish would take at least three months, though no decision has been made yet. Recently, there were rumors of a possible vote of no confidence, and opposition groups mobilized against Laporta. However, after Hansi Flick’s successful start and the team's remarkable results, such news has disappeared from the front pages.
Reminder: In 2020, Laporta announced his candidacy for the Barcelona presidency, and on March 7, 2021, he won the election with 58% of the vote, assuming the role of Barcelona's president.
Additionally, in 2024, Barcelona will celebrate its 125th anniversary. The Catalan club was founded on November 29, 1899, and this year on that date, a celebration event will be held. However, Lionel Messi will not be attending the event, for understandable reasons.
