WAFCON 2026: “We have to win it,” Reynald Pedros is aiming for a win for Ivory Coast against Tanzania
The Elephants’ head coach wants to finish the group stage on a high note in the tournament taking place in Morocco.
The Ivory Coast women’s national team is preparing to play its third and final group stage match of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. In this final fixture, the Ivorian women will face Tanzania on Tuesday 4 August at 8 pm GMT.
At a press conference ahead of the match, head coach Reynald Pedros emphasised the importance of this fixture, which he is approaching with the same determination as the previous ones. For the French manager, his team must secure victory to finish top of Group B.
“This match is just as important as the first and second ones. We’ll approach it in the same way to win it. There’s no need to do the maths. To finish top, we have to win tomorrow’s match. So we’ll do whatever it takes to win it.”
Ivory Coast sit top of Group B with four points following their (4–1) victory over Burkina Faso on matchday 1 and their (2–2) draw with South Africa on matchday 1.
