Bafana Bafana Portugal-based midfielder Sphephelo Sithole: I would like to earn a move away from Portugal after the Africa Cup of Nations tournament
Sphephelo Sithole visualises himself playing his football away from Portugal after the Africa Cup of Nations.
Sithole expressed his unrestrained desire to leave the Portuguese league, where his plays for CD Tondela, having spent almost a decade in that country.
Sithole is with Bafana Bafana in Morocco for the Afcon tournament currently underway in North Africa.
The 26-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan at top division side, Gil Vicente and returned to Tondela following their promotion to the top division.
And so far this season, Sithole has made 14 appearances and scored two goals in all competitions for his club, CD Tondela.
“Well, for my future, after this tournament, I would like to get a better opportunity to go and play somewhere else, you know, because I have been in Portugal for the past eight years, going on nine now,” said Sithole.
“So, I think for me to go somewhere else, maybe outside of Portugal, if things go well, that could be good, you know.
“I have just signed a new deal, yes, but you know, there were talks that happened around the deal. So, I think if everything goes well, a move is going to happen.”
He will be hoping he dishes out top drawer displays for Bafana when they face Cameroon tomorrow in their last-16 match in Rabat so European teams can chase his signature.
The game starts at 9pm.
