Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphelelo Sithole: We cannot afford to disappoint the people of South Africa on Sunday against Cameroon in our last-16 game
Sphephelo Sithole is not ready to disappoint the whole South Africa.
The Portuguese-based midfielder is ready for the test Cameroon will provide for the national side on Sunday in the Africa Cup of Nations Last-16 match.
In their readiness for the Indomitable Lions, Sithole said Bafana need to win this game as they cannot afford to break the hearts of the millions of South Africans by losing a game of such magnitude.
This titanic clash takes place at the Al barid Stadium in Rabat at 9pm.
“I think it’s going to be a great game, we haven’t played them in the past two or three years,” said Sithole.
“So, I think it’s a great game to test ourselves because if we lose against them, it’s gonna be disappointing for us and a country.
“We know that we need to win that game.”
Sithole is aware that he needs to up his game as Hugo Broos singled him out as one of the players to have dropped form in their last game against Zimbabwe on Monday when Bafana won 3-2. He was replaced at the break by Bathusi Aubaas with Broos commenting his display was below par.
