Anthony Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has shared his thoughts on the future bouts of his charge and a potential fight for the undisputed world champion title.
In a comment to The Stomping Ground, he emphasized the importance of focusing first on the bout against Dubois, scheduled for September 21. However, if Usyk defeats Fury, the focus will shift to Oleksandr Usyk as a contender for the undisputed title.
"To be honest, a rational person in Joshua's position would not fight Usyk. We held all the belts, had a free pass, and were the biggest star in boxing. Yet Joshua, in that position, said: 'Usyk is the mandatory challenger; I will fight him.'
People told me, 'We wouldn't have taken that fight in your place. Who is Usyk?' But I will tell you: he is the mandatory challenger, and we have an obligation to face him," Hearn explained.
The promoter added that Joshua fought Usyk twice, losing on both occasions. The first fight was a decisive victory for Oleksandr, while the second was a close contest with a brilliant finish by Usyk.
It is worth noting that IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) has shared his expectations for the fight against former champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs).
