An eight-time rally world champion was involved in a car accident and has been hospitalized


Eight-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais were involved in a car accident in Poland while preparing for an upcoming competition.
According to AP, Ogier is currently undergoing medical examination. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver did not sustain any serious injuries. However, the hospital has not provided further details.
Local police spokesperson Marta Domańska explained that the accident occurred on an ascent on a narrow single-lane dirt road that was not closed to traffic. In the Ford involved in the accident were a 69-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman.
Both complained of back pain following the incident. Ogier was taken to a hospital in Olsztyn, the other driver to Słupsk, while Landais and the other passenger were taken to a hospital in Giżycko.
The 40-year-old Ogier is one of the most distinguished rally drivers in history. He won six consecutive World Championship titles from 2013 to 2018, with his latest title in 2021. Ogier has won 60 rallies, the second-highest number in history after his compatriot Sébastien Loeb, who has 80 victories. This year, Ogier continues to compete in the World Championship.
