Amid Çalhanoğlu Controversy, Inter Eyes Richard Ríos as Midfield Target

As reported by Bolavip, Inter Milan are moving quickly to reshape their squad after a disappointing early exit from the Club World Cup. The situation worsened internally when team captain Lautaro Martínez accused some players of faking injuries to skip the tournament. One of the names indirectly targeted was Hakan Çalhanoğlu, a claim that club president Giuseppe Marotta did not deny: “These were the captain’s words… he pointed out some truths,” he stated.
With Çalhanoğlu's future uncertain, Inter are already lining up a replacement, and their sights are set on South America. Colombian midfielder Richard Ríos, currently starring for Palmeiras and the Colombian national team, is high on the Nerazzurri’s list. Inter could make a formal offer in the coming days, once Palmeiras complete their Club World Cup campaign, where they will face Chelsea in the quarterfinals.
Palmeiras are not eager to sell Ríos, who is a vital part of Abel Ferreira’s system. The Brazilian club would only consider offers above $25 million, and the player’s release clause stands at a steep $100 million—highlighting his importance to the squad.
Since joining Palmeiras in early 2023, Ríos has made 136 appearances, scored 11 goals, provided 9 assists, and won five domestic titles. His contract runs through December 2028.
