‘Almanaque’ González: The Colombian Striker Making Headlines at 4,150 Meters

Standing out in Bolivia’s top division isn’t easy—especially when you’re playing at 4,150 meters above sea level. But Colombian forward Efmamj Jasond González, known as ‘Almanaque’, is doing just that at Always Ready. His name, formed from the initials of all twelve months, has become as memorable as his recent performances.
Born in 1999 in Arboletes, Antioquia, and raised in Belén de Bajirá, González first leaned toward basketball and futsal. Football came into his life almost by chance, during a school tournament. By 14, he knew he wanted to be a pro. His breakthrough came with Atlético Nacional, followed by stints in Argentina with San Lorenzo, All Boys, and San Miguel.
In 2023, he arrived in Bolivia to join Real Santa Cruz, with a brief loan spell at South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs. He returned to Bolivia in 2024 to sign with Always Ready. Though the altitude in El Alto was challenging at first, he’s adapted quickly—most recently netting his first career hat-trick in a 7-0 win over Universitario de Vinto.
Nicknamed ‘Almanaque’ or sometimes just ‘Jasond’, his name has inspired playful confusion, especially from coaches trying to remember which “month” to call. With a contract through 2026, González aims to lead Always Ready to a league title and Copa Libertadores berth, while also eyeing a future call-up to the Colombian national team.
