AFCON 2025: Yakubu Cautions Eagles Ahead of Tunisia Test

Former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has warned Nigeria to expect a difficult clash against Tunisia at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria face the Carthage Eagles on Saturday night with both teams on three points in Group C.

The Super Eagles opened with a 2–1 win over Tanzania, while Tunisia beat Uganda 3–1 to lead the group on goal difference. Reflecting on Nigeria’s start, Yakubu admitted flaws, saying, “When you look at the Tanzania game… we were lucky to get away with it.” He stressed that Tunisia will be tougher, adding, “Against Tunisia, it’s not going to be easy… organised, disciplined, and very experienced.”

A win could secure qualification and top spot in Group C standings this weekend.
