AFCON 2025: Paul Onuachu Insists Super Eagles Are Targeting the Title in Morocco

Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s determination to go all the way at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), stressing that the team has arrived in Morocco with only one goal — winning the tournament.

Nigeria began their AFCON 2025 journey on a strong note, securing a 2–1 win against Tanzania in their opening Group C fixture. That victory has boosted confidence within the camp as the Super Eagles prepare for their second group match against Tunisia, scheduled for today.

Ahead of the encounter, Onuachu highlighted the quality and belief within the squad, pointing to a team capable of challenging for Africa’s biggest football prize.

“I think we have strong players and a good team that can really push forward to the next level,” Onuachu told reporters before the game against the North African team.

The striker also made it clear that the ambition to lift the AFCON trophy has long been part of the team’s mindset.

“Even before arriving here, we always think about winning the AFCON.”
