NBA veteran Rajon Rondo has officially announced his retirement from professional basketball. Having spent 16 seasons in the NBA and clinched the championship title twice, Rondo's last appearance on the court was in the spring of 2022 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite not signing any contracts since then, he has only now declared his retirement.

Rondo was once considered one of the premier point guards in the NBA, particularly during his nine-year tenure with the Boston Celtics from 2006 to 2015. He played a significant role in the Celtics' championship victory in 2008.

Having participated in the All-Star Game four times and earning All-Defensive Team honors on four occasions, Rondo also secured the title of assists leader twice and steals leader once.

Throughout his career, the basketball player competed in 957 NBA games, averaging 9.8 points, 7.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game. He ranks 15th in the league's all-time assists list with 7,584 assists.
