A stunning upset! Hull City rewrites history in clash against Manchester United
Hull City kicked off the new Premier League season with a sensational victory over Manchester United. In their opening fixture, the Tigers stunned the iconic visitors with a 2-0 home win, marking their first-ever triumph against the Mancunians in Premier League history.
The Hull side showed grit from the opening whistle and struck twice in the first half. Defender Semi Ajayi opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and before the break, Nobel Mendy doubled the hosts' advantage with a goal in the 38th minute. Both goals came from set-piece situations.
This win is historic for Hull City. In their previous ten Premier League encounters with Manchester United, the team had failed to secure a single victory, recording only two draws and eight defeats.
The result is even more impressive considering Hull have just returned to the top flight after a lengthy absence. In their very first match, Sergei Yakirovich's side delivered a headline-grabbing shock and sent one of England’s football giants reeling. For Michael Carrick’s team, however, the season’s start turned into a nightmare.
