686 days! Manchester United fan still condemned to a nightmare haircut. VIDEO
Frank Ilett is still waiting for the five wins that will finally send him to the barber.
Details: The Manchester United supporter, known online as The United Strand, vowed on 5 October 2024 not to cut his hair until the team won five consecutive matches. That promise has now lasted 686 days.
His wait was extended again on Saturday, when newly promoted Hull City beat Manchester United 2-0 in the opening round of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Semi Ajayi scored in the 17th minute and Nobel Mendy added the second in the 38th, with both goals coming from set-piece situations.
Ilett had already come agonisingly close in February. United won four consecutive Premier League matches under Michael Carrick, but a 1-1 draw away to West Ham stopped the sequence one victory short and kept the clippers out of reach.
The challenge has long since gone viral, with Ilett documenting his hair growth through The United Strand. It is worth noting that Manchester United's most recent run of five straight wins in all competitions came between 28 January and 18 February 2024, several months before Ilett made his pledge.
