One of the finest stretches in the Spanish goalkeeper’s career.
Details: Spain’s shot-stopper Unai Simón has etched his name into World Cup history at the 2026 tournament, becoming the first keeper ever to keep six clean sheets in a single edition of the competition.
Previously, the record was held by seven legendary goalkeepers, each of whom finished a World Cup with five shutouts. That elite group includes Jan Jongbloed (Netherlands, 1974), Walter Zenga (Italy, 1990), Cláudio Taffarel (Brazil, 1994), Fabien Barthez (France, 1998), Oliver Kahn (Germany, 2002), Gianluigi Buffon (Italy, 2006), and Iker Casillas (Spain, 2010).
A clean sheet in the World Cup semifinal against France propelled Simón to the top of this prestigious list, cementing his status as one of the standout heroes of this year’s tournament.
