“A derby is never easy”: David Pagou warns ahead of Congo v Cameroon

The race for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations continues with matchday 2 getting under way on Monday 28 September.

For their second match, Cameroon travel to the Republic of the Congo to face the Red Devils. The match is scheduled for Tuesday 29 September at the Alphonse Massamba-Debat Stadium in Brazzaville.

At a pre-match press conference, the Indomitable Lions’ manager, David Pagou, expressed caution regarding their Congolese opponents. The Cameroonian manager expects a particularly hard-fought match between the two Central African neighbours.

David Pagou knows that the Red Devils will go into this match determined to bounce back following their defeat on the opening day.

“A derby is never easy. There’ll be extra motivation. We know we’re up against an opponent who’s hurting after their defeat in the first match. We hope the lads will rise to the occasion to put in a good performance and win the match. There will be no clear favourite; we’ll come out and play to our strengths.”

Cameroon secured a 3–1 victory over the Comoros in Garoua in their opening qualifier.
