2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Christian Kofane a doubt for Cameroon’s clash with Congo

The Indomitable Lions may have to do without their striker for the second matchday of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Christian Kofane was substituted at half-time during Cameroon’s 3-1 victory over the Comoros on 24 September in Garoua. After the match at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium, Cameroon’s manager, David Pagou, explained the reasons for his striker’s substitution. “He was holding his thigh; he felt a slight twinge, and we didn’t want to take any risks.”

Subsequent medical examinations reportedly revealed a minor strain for the Bayer Leverkusen player. This situation is raising concerns about his availability for the Indomitable Lions’ next match. Notably, Christian Kofane did not take part in the stretching session held on Saturday morning in Brazzaville with the rest of the squad.

Following their opening home match against the Comoros, the Indomitable Lions will face the Red Devils on matchday 2 of the qualifiers. The match is scheduled for 29 September in Brazzaville at the Alphonse Massamba-Debat Stadium.
