2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Congo open the scoring against Cameroon in Brazzaville

The Red Devils took the lead against Cameroon on matchday two of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Republic of Congo caught the Indomitable Lions off guard at the Alphonse-Massamba-Debat Stadium in Brazzaville. The early stages of the match quickly swung in Claude Le Roy’s side’s favour.

The suspense ultimately lasted only a few minutes before the Republic of the Congo opened the scoring. In the 25th minute, Geltany Bantsiele found the back of the net to give the Republic of the Congo the lead.

The Congolese striker capitalised on a pass from Yvan Ikia Dimi to beat the Cameroonian defence and put the Red Devils 1–0 ahead. Facing a Congolese side spurred on by their home crowd, Cameroon will need to find a way to turn the tide in this match, which counts towards matchday two of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

For Claude Le Roy and his team, it’s a good start to the match following their defeat in their opening game.
