2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Yoane Wissa opens the scoring for the DR Congo against Zimbabwe

The Leopards are taking on the Warriors at the National Sport Stadium as part of matchday 2 of qualifiers for the next Africa Cup of Nations.

In this Group E clash on matchday two, the Democratic Republic of the Congo took the lead in Harare. After a controlled start to the match, Sébastien Desabre’s side were rewarded.

The ever-present Yoane Wissa put the Leopards 1-0 ahead in the 30th minute. The Congolese striker capitalised on a poor clearance by the Zimbabwean goalkeeper to slot the ball into the back of the net.

With this narrow lead, the Democratic Republic of the Congo have put themselves in a strong position in this crucial second-matchday clash. If they hold on to their lead until the final whistle, the Leopards will pull clear at the top of Group E.

Before kick-off, the two sides were joint top of the group after both having made successful starts to this qualifying campaign.
