2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Sébastien Desabre sets out DR Congo’s ambitions ahead of the clash with Zimbabwe

The Leopards are aiming to build on their momentum in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Following a successful start against Equatorial Guinea on 24 September in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo are travelling to Zimbabwe for their second match. Ahead of this fixture, scheduled for Monday 28 September in Harare, Sébastien Desabre clearly set out his team’s ambitions at the pre-match press conference.

The DR Congo manager insists that his squad has a clear plan for this qualifying campaign for the next Africa Cup of Nations, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

“We have a clear roadmap. We’ll take each match as it comes. The aim is to secure all 12 points as quickly as possible.”

The Democratic Republic of the Congo got off to a perfect start in the qualifiers with a 2–0 win over Equatorial Guinea on 24 September in Kinshasa. The Leopards will now look to build on that success against the Warriors in Harare on 28 September.

Ahead of their head-to-head clash, the two teams are level on points (3) in Group E.
