What Jody February's agent had to say about his future with Mamelodi Sundowns!

Mamelodi Sundowns have ended speculation surrounding goalkeeper Jody February's future by triggering a one-year contract extension, keeping the Cape Town-born shot-stopper at Chloorkop until at least June 2026.
The decision comes as validation for the 29-year-old, who has gradually worked his way into the first-team picture after multiple loan spells since joining from Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) in 2018. February's agent Mike Makaab of Prosport International confirmed the extension to FARPost, stating: "This renewed commitment gives Jody the platform to properly challenge for the number one jersey after showing promising development this season."
From Loan Journeyman to Contender
February's Sundowns journey has been one of persistence:
Initial 5-year deal signed in 2018
Loan spells at Cape Umoya, Swallows and AmaZulu
Recalled last season as backup option
Made 7 appearances this term (3 clean sheets)
While still behind Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams in the pecking order, February has surpassed veterans Reyaad Pieterse and Denis Onyango in appearances this campaign. His extension suggests the technical team values his progression and sees potential for further growth.
Makaab emphasized: "The minutes he's earned this season prove his capabilities. Now it's about building on this foundation and pushing for more starts." The decision also reflects Sundowns' strategy of maintaining quality depth as they compete on multiple fronts.
With young prospect Sanele Tshabalala also emerging, February's battle for game time continues - but with renewed security and belief from the reigning champions.
