Tottenham fined £75,000 for fans’ chants during match against Man United

In September 2024, Tottenham supporters chanted homophobic slogans during the match against Manchester United. Nearly a year later, the final verdict on this case has been delivered.
Details: The appeals commission reviewed the initial decision made by the first-instance body in November 2024. While it acknowledged that Tottenham had breached Football Association regulations by failing to control their fans, the commission reduced the fine from £150,000 to £75,000.
In delivering its verdict, the commission cited that the initial penalty was disproportionate compared to previous precedents. Other sanctions for Tottenham, including an official warning and the requirement to develop and implement an action plan to prevent future incidents, remain in force.
Reminder: At the time, Tottenham fans also directed abusive chants at Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta.
