Former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos has weighed in on the incident that saw Bayern winger Luis Díaz sent off during the fourth round of the Champions League clash against PSG. The Colombian was shown a straight red card for a harsh foul on Achraf Hakimi.
Details: Speaking on the Podcast Einfach mal Luppen, Toni Kroos said Hakimi’s injury influenced the referee’s decision, though he doesn’t agree with that assessment.
“For me, it’s obvious – that was not a red card! The referee let Hakimi’s injury affect his decision. If Achraf had got up after the collision, nobody would have even reviewed the incident. In situations like this, the referee should judge the action itself, not its consequences.” the German legend stated.
Reminder: In this episode, PSG defender Hakimi suffered an injury and is expected to be sidelined for about two months.
