Three players out? Barcelona suffer major injury blow ahead of PSG clash
Barcelona have suffered a major injury blow following their match against Real Betis. According to Mundo Deportivo, Eric García and Jules Koundé will miss Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with PSG on October 20. Another Barcelona defender, Gerard Martín, has also picked up an injury.
García felt discomfort in the quadriceps of his right leg and was substituted late in the match against Betis. The defender had already managed to get on the scoresheet, however. A medical examination will determine the extent of the injury, but according to the Spanish publication, the player will not be able to feature against the Parisian side.
Koundé has also suffered a fitness problem. The Frenchman played out the match despite feeling discomfort and arrived at the club’s training base the following day visibly limping. As a result, both defenders are expected to miss the team’s upcoming away fixture.
The situation surrounding Gerard Martín is less clear. The player was substituted at half-time due to inflammation in the foot area. Barcelona are hopeful that he will be able to travel to Paris, but the final decision will depend on his recovery over the next 48 hours.
