Hansi Flick did not hide from reality after Barcelona's first defeat of the season.

Details: Barcelona suffered a 4-2 defeat away to Paris Saint-Germain in the third round of the Champions League league phase on October 20. The Catalans twice managed to respond during an entertaining night at the Parc des Princes, but PSG took control late on and handed Flick's side their first competitive loss of the 2026/27 campaign.

Speaking after the final whistle, Flick delivered a remarkably straightforward assessment of the difference between the two teams and openly admitted that the French champions remain ahead of Barcelona at the moment.

"PSG showed that they are still a better team than us. We can learn from this defeat," Flick said.

The German coach also stressed that PSG caused serious problems with their transitions and admitted that Barcelona lacked freshness in the closing stages. Flick refused to use his team's preparation as an excuse, instead insisting that the match must serve as a lesson and help his players improve.

The defeat ended Barcelona's perfect start to the season. Before travelling to Paris, Flick's team had won all 11 of their competitive matches, including Champions League victories over Feyenoord and Galatasaray.

It is worth noting that Barcelona now face another major test almost immediately: the Catalans are scheduled to host Real Madrid in El Clasico on October 25.
