The FA charges Coote with misconduct over controversial video

Last autumn, England was rocked by a high-profile scandal involving referee David Coote, who became the focus of leaked videos in which he criticized Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp. More than six months have passed, and the Football Association has now concluded its investigation.
Details: The Football Association has confirmed that Coote faces charges under rule E3.1, which states that he acted in an improper manner and/or used offensive or insulting language. The specific punishment has not been disclosed, but Coote has already been suspended from officiating indefinitely.
Quote: "Coote is accused of breaching FA rule E3 in relation to comments he made about Klopp in a video recorded around July 2020 and published on social media in November 2024. It is alleged that the referee behaved improperly and/or used offensive and insulting language, which violates rule E3.1. It is also claimed that this is an 'aggravated breach' under rule E3.2, as it contains direct or indirect reference to nationality."
Reminder: Until June 30, 2026, Coote is also suspended from UEFA-sanctioned competitions, and tabloids have discovered what he has been up to during his suspension.
