The NFL team Carolina Panthers will remain in Charlotte, as reported by ESPN, following the city council's allocation of funds for stadium reconstruction.

According to the plan, $800 million has been earmarked for stadium upgrades. The city council will provide $650 million upfront, contingent on Panthers owner David Tepper keeping the team in Charlotte until 2045. Tepper will pay the remaining $150 million as an advance.

Tepper has already invested over $117 million in stadium modernization. Additionally, he has agreed to potentially spend another $421 million on capital improvements over the agreement's term.

The start date for stadium reconstruction is currently unknown, but the Panthers aim to complete all work by 2029.

Recall, recently we reported that the Kansas Senate overwhelmingly approved a new law allowing tax-funded financing for building new sports arenas. This state continues efforts to attract the Chiefs from Missouri.
