The national teams of Nigeria and Egypt faced off in Casablanca for the bronze medals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 90 minutes played out in rather uneventful fashion for neutral fans. There were no goals, and the teams combined for just nine shots on target—a tournament low this year.
In the penalty shootout, fortune favored the Super Eagles. Stanley Nwabali denied the Pharaohs’ biggest stars, Salah and Marmoush, while Lookman delivered the decisive strike—Nigeria triumphed 4-2.
It’s worth noting that this marks Nigeria’s ninth bronze medal in Africa Cup of Nations history (1976, 1978, 1992, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2019, and 2025).
