President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Super Eagles for winning the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, describing the feat as a “bronze that feels like gold.”

In a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the team’s grit after they beat seven-time champions Egypt on penalties following a goalless draw. “This bronze medal surely feels good like gold… Thank you, our gallant Super Eagles,” he said. The President noted the players’ response to their semi-final loss to hosts Morocco, saying they “remained undaunted… exhibiting the resilience of the Nigerian spirit.”

Nigeria’s ninth AFCON bronze will be presented on Sunday in Rabat, adding to three titles and four runner-up finishes in continental football history.
