Russo Eyes Braida as First Signing in Boca Return

Miguel Ángel Russo is yet to be officially unveiled as Boca Juniors’ new manager, but the club is already moving to secure his first reinforcement. As reported by TyC Sports, Boca are in advanced talks to activate the $1.2 million release clause of San Lorenzo standout Malcom Braida.
The 27-year-old joined San Lorenzo in 2022 and quickly became a vital piece, praised for his versatility on the left side. Capable of playing as full-back, winger or midfielder, Braida has featured in 137 matches and scored seven goals. Before Iker Muniain’s arrival, he also wore the captain’s armband—a testament to his leadership role within the team.
While Boca had previously shown interest, the operation gained momentum with Russo’s backing. The clause, valid until December 2026, paves the way for a unilateral departure San Lorenzo may struggle to block. Boca’s board, led by Juan Román Riquelme, hopes to finalize the move swiftly, with the Club World Cup looming large on the calendar.
The potential exits of Frank Fabra—whose contract ends later this year—and Marcelo Saracchi, who could be released to free up a foreign player slot, would create a vacancy for Braida. His profile fits Russo’s approach and positions him as a key figure in Boca’s bid to revamp the squad ahead of international competition.
