Richards Bay FC coach Papi Zothwane on the title race: We are not going o do anyone any favours in the PSL title race, we just stay in our own lane
Richards Bay are not going to do Orlando Pirates any favours in this Betway Premiership title race.
The Kwa-Zulu Natal side drew 2-2 against Pirates on Friday evening and are due to face PSL defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, later this month.
Sundowns are on top of the standings with 56 points while Pirates are second with 55 and the draw at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Friday heavily dented their title push.
And now it’s about where Sundowns could slip up for them to gain advantage if not dominance.
But Zothwane said they are not on a mission to make any one favours as the game against Sundowns for them would be for their own goals and not necessarily to aide Pirates’ championship ambitions.
“They can’t bank on us because we’ve got our own machine, they have their own,” said Zothwane after the game on Friday night.
“What we always emphasise on our players is that no one must come out here. That’s the slogan for every team that we are playing against. That’s why we only lost one game against Orbit College in the league.
“It’s difficult to beat us here because we are not only playing for ourselves but for our supporters, they have been hungry for matches here.
“When they come here, they must get something from us. It feels good to be in front of our supporters after a long time. Whatever we do, we do it for our supporters.”
