Rewriting history. Florida won the Stanley Cup for the first time

On the night of June 24-25, the seventh and final game of the Stanley Cup finals took place, with the Florida Panthers hosting the Edmonton Oilers.

Florida had won the first three games of the series, but Edmonton made a sensational comeback, winning three consecutive games. Thus, the Stanley Cup champion was decided in this decisive seventh game.

In the first period, the teams exchanged goals. Carter Verhaeghe scored for Florida, while Mattias Janmark netted for Edmonton.

The decisive goal of the match came in the 15th minute of the second period, scored by Panthers forward Sam Reinhart.

Florida won the Stanley Cup for the first time in its history. The club, founded in 1993, had previously been the best in the Eastern Conference twice but had never been NHL champions.
