Replace Carrick? Manchester United could appoint a coach who has already won the English title

Antonio Conte could return to coaching in the near future. According to Calciomercato, Manchester United, Milan and Juventus are keeping tabs on the 57-year-old Italian manager.

Manchester United are considering Conte as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick. The English club have made a poor start to the 2026/27 season: the team have won just one of their first four Premier League matches before suffering a 3-2 defeat to Brighton, surrendering a two-goal lead and crashing out of the Carabao Cup.

Conte is currently without a club after leaving Napoli. In the 2024/25 season, he led the Neapolitan side to the Italian title. Earlier in his career, the manager enjoyed a successful spell at Juventus, winning Serie A three times in a row. In England, Conte managed Chelsea and guided the London club to the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season, before winning the FA Cup a year later.

The Italian also coached Inter, who became Italian champions under his leadership in the 2020/21 season. In addition, Conte managed the Italy national team, leading them to Euro 2016.
