JJ Gabriel has chosen a new club! Manchester United will receive a laughable fee
Barcelona have the upper hand in the race to sign 15-year-old Manchester United player JJ Gabriel. According to Catalan outlet Sport, the youngster wants to continue his career with the Spanish champions.
Earlier this week, Gabriel officially asked Manchester United to cancel his registration so that he could become a free agent. INEOS intend to reject the player's request, but once he turns 16 next month, he will be able to move to a foreign club.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have already taken advantage of the situation. According to TEAMtalk, both clubs have held positive talks with Gabriel, while it emerged on Friday that the teenager is in Barcelona for a meeting with representatives of the Catalan club.
Gabriel can play as a striker, left winger or attacking midfielder. Barcelona regard his signing as one of their priorities and another battleground in their rivalry with Real Madrid. At the same time, the Catalan club could land the player for compensation of around £300,000.
According to Sport, agent Ali Barat could play an important role in the potential transfer, as he enjoys a close relationship with Barcelona sporting director Deco.
