Manchester United are continuing to sink deeper into crisis — after five Premier League matches, the team have collected just five points and equalled their worst-ever tally at this stage of the competition. The Red Devils also had five points after five games in the 2014/15 season.

The opening of the current campaign has been extremely uneven for United. On the opening matchday, the team travelled to Hull City and suffered a surprise 0-2 defeat. In their very next game, Manchester United bounced back by thrashing Ipswich 5-2 and picking up their first three points.

However, there was no follow-up. On matchday three, the Red Devils drew 2-2 with Everton before losing 0-1 to Manchester City in the home derby. In the fifth round, the team travelled to Fulham.

The London side opened the scoring through a bizarre own goal from Lisandro Martinez, but United avoided defeat thanks to a goal from Matheus Cunha in the 89th minute — 1-1.

The record after the first five rounds is one win, two draws and two defeats. Manchester United have collected just five points out of a possible 15 and sit 12th in the league table.
