Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni will miss France's opening match at Euro 2024.

Tchouaméni missed the final weeks of the club season, including the UEFA Champions League final, due to a stress fracture in his foot, which he sustained in late April.

Despite the injury, he was still called up to the French national team and continues his rehabilitation during the Euros.

French head coach Didier Deschamps is confident that Tchouaméni will recover soon, but he will not be available for the first group stage match against Austria on June 17. Even if Tchouaméni requires more time, it will be afforded to him. The coach has planned for such situations and has several players in the squad who can replace Aurélien.

Additionally, alongside Austria, France's group opponents include the Netherlands and Poland.
