From the very start of the match, the Austrian national team astonished with their audacious play. The players of Ralph Rangnick's squad demonstrated no fear of their more renowned opponent, and midway through the half, Marcel Sabitzer nearly opened the scoring but fell just short of lobbing Mike Maignan.

France did not rush into the attack but managed to score in the 38th minute. Following a cross from Kylian Mbappé on the right flank to Antoine Griezmann, Austrian defender Maximilian Wöber inadvertently directed the ball into his own net.

In the early stages of the second half, Kylian Mbappé had an incredible opportunity to score his first career goal in the European Championships, but the Real Madrid newcomer failed to capitalize on the one-on-one chance.

Towards the very end of the match, a highly unfortunate incident occurred with Mbappé. In one of the plays, he struck his head against the shoulder of an Austrian defender, resulting in a broken nose. The bleeding could not be stopped for several minutes.

After this victory, France leads Group D alongside the Netherlands, who defeated Poland 2-1 yesterday.
